Includes blood tests, ultrasound, and consultation with our patient advocate. You will also meet with a doctor to sign 24-hour consent forms. There is a $125 non-refundable fee for your options consultation. This fee will be credited towards the final cost of your abortion.

Visit 2: Abortion Pills

This is when you take the 1st dose (Mifeprex™). Our doctor will give you instructions on how to take the 2nd dose (Misoprostol) at home 1-2 days later. During your abortion, you can expect to have bleeding, cramping, and flu-like symptoms.

Visit 3: Follow-Up

Medical abortion is effective up to 95% of the time. During this final visit, we may test your urine or perform an ultrasound to make sure your pregnancy was successfully terminated.

WHAT IS MEDICAL
ABORTION?

Also known as the "pill method," medical abortion uses oral meds to end a pregnancy, instead of surgery. It requires two types of pills:

MIFEPREX: A progesterone-receptor antagonist. This pill blocks the hormone that's necessary for a pregnancy to grow.
MISOPROSTOL: Also known as Cytotec, this pill causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy (similar to a miscarriage). You will take this 2nd medication orally about 1-2 days after taking Mifeprex.

When paired together, these pills are a safe and effective way to end an early pregnancy up to 10 weeks 0 days gestation.

You can expect to have bleeding, cramping, and flu-like symptoms during your medical abortion. Some patients say "it feels like a miscarriage."

WHY IS THERE A
WAITING PERIOD?

Unfortunately, Ohio law mandates the 24-hour waiting period. All patients must complete an initial visit and sign consent forms with our doctor at least 24-hours prior to taking the abortion pills.

During this first appointment, you will receive an ultrasound to determine if you are under the gestational limit of 10.0 weeks. If you are under 10.0 weeks, our staff will help you schedule your medical abortion at our office.
